LIVING DURING ROOF REPLACEMENT
Roofing does not have to stop your normal daily routine. For residential roof replacement or installment, we'll examine how life goes on during the process
So you have gone through the process of selecting a roofing company. Hopefully, it is Roofing Odenton or one of our partners. The team has prepared all the materials based on your choice. Now it is D-Day: Removal of the old shingles is about to start. How does life look from the view of your family; assuming you will live the same house while the roof is being replaced.
There are no tricks to this. some things will change. In order for you to enjoy decades of peace of mind along with serene safety, there is a price to pay. That price is your temporal inconvenience of having to listen to construction work happening above your head.
STAY OUT OF THE WAY
This goes without explanation. Allow the best roof construction workers to do their job. When they have free access to go and come, that replacement work will get completed on time. If there are kids or pets in their way, that would significantly delay the construction process. Keep the flow of work unobstructed.
NO PLAYING OUTSIDE
For family with children, please find alternate ways for the little ones to play. Safety is the main concern here. Cables, power tools, nails, ladders, and construction paraphernalia will be all over the place. You do not want to get entangled in any of those; and no one wants to be hurt from flying objects. For the safety of all involved let no one play outside, while the stripping or installation is under way.
CHOOSE A SAFE LOCATION
As life does not stop because of the work going on, the inhabitants would have to go about their lives in a careful manner. Choosing where to use for various activities may become a matter of decision. Normally you already know where to go when you want to read or to eat. With construction going on, your household may have to use one are of the house for multiple activities.
KNOW WHERE WORKS IS HAPPENING
Awareness can be a wise factor. You may want to go outside or to a different room. When you know where the roofing professionals are (relative to your location), it would make your egress and ingress freer. What you need to do can take place is confidence, because you are in a place where no one is pounding with hammers or laying shingles above you. Debris falling can be avoided.
HAVE A ROUTINE
Yes, you and your household may already have routines in place. However, for this period, you would need a modified one. Going and coming should be kept to the minimum and done as a family unit. This way the contractors, who are trained experts would also understand that at certain periods of time, people might be coming in or leaving the house. When things go as expected life becomes a more friendly endeavor.
INSPECT
"This too shall pass, remember that. As the roofing team concludes their tasks and hand over to you, take time walk around the house and conduct a visual audit of the roof. You don't have to climb up the ladder and get on top to see what kind of work has been done. Looking around from the ground level will suffice for now. Note anything that seem unusual... gutters bent out of shape, shingles hanging or flapping, nails poking out etc. Be sure to notify the roofing company of any such findings.
CLEAN UP
As you know, the roofing team does clean up after themselves, yet we love our homes cleaned a certain way. Get down to business and work on cleaning your house to your satisfaction. Some would simply not have the time, energy nor manpower to get the house in good shape. That is understandable. Feel free to contact cleaning agencies in your area, then you are covered.
Life as you know it can now continue while you enjoy a brand new roof over your head. The entire process may take days, depending on the size, run, span, and rise of your roof. At any rate, in due time your house would be aesthetically and emotionally pleasing to you, your family and to your neighborhood.
